2005 saw the loss of four oaks from historic Orton Park. Learn how active neighborhood residents salvaged these trees into lumber that you can purchase to support Orton Park through the Marquette Neighborhood Association.

2008 Update: Two more trees will likely be cut in the winter of 2008-2009. MNA will work with city to salvage these trees into lumber for community projects. Revenue will be used to support Park improvements.

Where has the lumber gone?
Many of your neighbors have purchased Orton Park Oak to make window trim, a dining room set, and bookshevles. Others have made a purchase now with the plan for the lumber still simmering in their creativity. Two larger and public projects are coming soon. B.B. Clarke Beach Benches and Goodman Community Center Cafe and Catering.

Local artist Erika Koivunen is working with the Marquette Neighborhood Association and the Madison Parks Department to create unique benches for the park that incorporate Orton Park Oak and Recycled Steel Cable Spools from MG&E.
